A Utah man arrested on DUI, erratic driving and speeding charges failed to get up, up and away from police despite the fact that he was wearing a Superman T-shirt. And that his name is Christopher Reeves.
Reeves, 33, of Layton, Utah, was pulled over early Tuesday morning after a Davis County Sheriff's deputy noticed him weaving in and out of traffic on I-15. A field sobriety test determined that Reeves was under the influence and, according to police, 52 grams of methamphetamine and the synthetic drug Spice were found in Reeves' car.
The Davis County Sheriff's Office shared Reeves' mug shot on its Facebook page, writing that booking photos don't normally get posted, but the unique nature of the suspect's name and clothing superseded that rule. The post also warned, "Don't do drugs."
Christopher Reeve, with no s at the end, famously portrayed the Man of Steel in three films. He died in 2004 at the age of 52.
Sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Susan Poulsen told The Davis Clipper newspaper that Reeves was a "frequent flier" — a suspect with a long record of drug violation arrests.
The Clipper reported that Reeves was being held on $15,000 bail. (Until he bends the bars of his jail cell with his superhuman strength or uses his heat vision to blast through a wall).
