Hillary Clinton says that the Washington Redskins football team should change its name because the term is “insensitive.”

“I think it’s insensitive and I think that there’s no reason for it to continue as the name of a team in our nation’s capital,” she said in an interview with Fusion TV. “I would love to see the owners think hard about what they could substitute.”

Many top Democrats have suggested that the controversial name, which Native American groups deride as an offensive slur, should be changed despite vocal resistance from the team’s ownership.

In an interview last October, President Barack Obama said that he would consider a name change if he owned the team. “If I were the owner of the team and I knew that there was a name of my team — even if it had a storied history — that was offending a sizeable group of people, I’d think about changing it,” he said.
