Don Pardo, the legendary announcer and iconic voice for NBC's sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live," has died at the age of 96, NBC News has learned.
Pardo was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, and began his career at NBC in 1944, working on shows from "The Price is Right" to "Jeopardy!" to "NBC Nightly News." He retired from the network in 2004 but continued to work for "SNL."
Pardo worked as the iconic announcer for "SNL," which premiered in 1975, for 38 seasons — the entirety of the show, except for the 1981-82 season. He missed two episodes of the show in 2013 after breaking his hip, and was back in September, according to the Hollywood Reporter. No details of his death were immediately available.
