A wanted burglary suspect who openly taunted Ohio authorities on Facebook was caught Tuesday night — with law enforcement crediting social media for his arrest.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office posted an alert on its Facebook page Monday about 21-year-old Andrew Marcum, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants, including for burglary, assault and abduction, NBC affiliate WLWT reported. Marcum then commented on the post, saying: "I ain't tripping half of them don't even know me."

The Butler County Sheriff's Facebook page responded to Marcum: "If you could stop by the Sheriff's Office, that'd be great."

On Twitter, Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones continued the conversation by posting a picture of an empty jail cell, adding, "Hey Andrew Marcum we've got your room ready..." Jones told reporters that Marcum appeared to like the attention of being a wanted man — and with the help of tipsters, deputies were able to trace his whereabouts.

The Butler County Sheriff's page was updated Tuesday night with a mugshot of Marcum looking red-faced and apparently in tears. The department wrote that Marcum "will be off Facebook temporarily because there is no social media access in the Butler County Jail. He's turned himself in."
