Bernie Sanders on Sunday said he does not share the same political views as newly picked Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine and would have preferred a more ideologically progressive pick like Elizabeth Warren.

“His political views are not my political views. He is more conservative than I am,” Sanders told NBC News’ Chuck Todd in an interview on Meet The Press. “Would I have preferred to see somebody like an Elizabeth Warren selected by Secretary Clinton? Yes, I would have.”

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton announced the Virginia senator as her running mate Friday evening, and the two appeared together at an in Miami on Saturday. Clinton aides lauded Kaine’s robust resume as a governor, senator and head of the Democratic National Committee.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who shares many of the progressive ideals championed by Sanders during his presidential campaign.

The Vermont senator also reiterated his calls for Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to step down after leaked emails revealed the DNC internally showed favoritism towards the Clinton campaign while outwardly claiming impartiality.

“This really does not come as a shock to me or my supporters. There is no question but the DNC was on Secretary Clinton’s side from day one,” Sanders said.

However, Sanders said the emails will not impact his support for Clinton.
