Around 150 people were evacuated from their homes after authorities found high readings of potentially deadly hydrogen cyanide. Eight fire departments and hazardous materials experts descended on Pennsylvania's Skippack Township after residents reported a strange chemical smell at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, the local fire department said. Substance meters sounded alarms in the first dwelling to report an odor and hydrogen cyanide was later found in adjacent homes. Experts were trying to determine the source of the material early Monday, but the Skippack Fire Company said it was coming through the sump pumps that are used to remove water from basements. No injuries were reported.
